A Legacy of Service: The History of Zettler Funeral Home & Cremation Services

Zettler Funeral Home & Cremation Services has been a trusted presence in the Hamilton, Ohio, community since its founding on June 21, 1951, by James R. Zettler and his wife, Marian (Brandhoff) Zettler. Rooted in a deep commitment to compassion, affordability, and service, the Zettlers established a tradition that has spanned generations.

In the early days, the Zettler family lived above the funeral home, blending family life with their calling to serve others. All eight of James and Marian’s children contributed differently, laying the foundation for a truly family-centered funeral home built on personal attention, integrity, and care.

That tradition continues today under the leadership of their son, Thomas G. Zettler, and his wife, Christen Zettler, who now own the business. With Thomas as President and Managing Director and Christen closely involved in the day-to-day operations, the Zettlers remain deeply committed to the mission of providing meaningful, affordable, and dignified services for every family they serve.

Over the years, Zettler Funeral Home has expanded its offerings to include traditional funerals, cremation services, memorial services, and pre-planning options — all to help families honor their loved ones in personal and respectful ways.

As the funeral profession evolves, Thomas and Christen Zettler remain focused on carrying their family legacy. With strong ties to the community and a forward-thinking approach to care, they look ahead with a purpose, continuing to walk alongside families during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Zettler Funeral Home is proud to remain family-owned and operated for over 70 years. The Zettlers are honored to continue serving future generations with the same compassion and dedication that began in 1951.
